How do I apply?
Applications can be submitted online by simply clicking on the APPLY NOW section of our website or forms can be downloaded and submitted via mail to our office at TD Centre North Tower, 1038-77 King St. West, Toronto, ON  M5K 1P2.

What is the applicable deadline to submit an application?
Artists who wish to enter into our competition portion will be able to apply until May 1st, 2017.

What happens if my application is passed the deadline?
You are welcomed to apply after the deadline and your application will be reviewed at a later date. However, spots within this competition will fill up quickly and those who apply after the deadline may not be guaranteed a spot in the competition.

Who is the jury?
CIAC will be personally selecting 5 exceptional jury candidates, deriving from different parts of the world and possessing diverse artistic expertise.

What are the prizes that can be won during the competition?

1st Place:

  • $2000 CAD;
  • Gold Medal;
  • international competition certificate;
  • free entry admission for 2018 competition; and
  • free publication in the competition yearbook

2nd Place:

  • $1500 CAD;
  • Silver Medal;
  • international competition certificate;
  • free entry admission for 2018 competition; and
  • free publication in the competition yearbook

3rd Place:

  • $1000 CAD;
  • Bronze Medal;
  • international competition certificate;
  • free entry admission for 2018 competition; and
  • free publication in the competition yearbook

4th to 100th Place:

  • Competition Medal;
  • international competition certificate; and
  • free publication in the competition yearbook

11th to 100th top artists in the world:

  • international competition certificate; and
  • free publication in the competition yearbook

How do I create a successful application?
Your application will be successful if you have completed all the necessary information in the application form and provided the applicable fee.

How do you decide where an artist will be placed within the floor plan?
Each artist will share a wall (4×10) to display their work. We will assign artists to different walls in accordance with the category of their work. Unfortunately, we will not be taking location requests but we will ensure all artists who enter the competition are accommodated and treated equally.

What size does my artwork have to be in order to be accepted into this competition?
All paintings entered into this competition must adhere to a size limit of 36-inch x 36-inch (91.44cm x 91.44 cm)

How can I pay from overseas if I do not have a valid Canadian or American credit card?
The Canadian International Art Exhibition cannot accept foreign cheques.

How can I ship the artwork so it arrives on time for the competition?
Delivery of works of art must be made 4 weeks prior to the competition for artists who are outside of Canada and 1 week prior to the competition for those who reside in Canada. Note: all postage and delivery charges must be incurred by the artist. Candidates can use any of the major shipping companies to provide us with their work (UPS, TNT, FedEx or DHL). All works must be addressed to the Canadian International Art Competition and must be mailed to our postage address.

Does my work have to be insured prior to entering this competition?
All works of art entered the competition must be insured independently by the artist.

Can I get my artwork shipped back to my address after the competition is over?
CIAC will gladly ship your artwork back to your possession after the competition via one of the many shipping companies available (UPS, TNT, FedEx or DHL) however all costs of shipping will have to be incurred by the artist/candidate.If an artist/candidate does not have a credit card available to directly pay for the cost of shipping, CIAC also accepts wired money transfer as an alternative payment.

If I do not live in Canada, can I apply for an entry visa to Canada to be present for the art competition show?
Unfortunately, CIAC is unable to send entry visa invitation documents. However, if an artist/candidate wants to attend the Red carpet ceremony, CIAC will gladly send official invitations so that artists/candidates can be present at the ceremony night.

What does the ceremony night entail?
This Red Carpet event will be a night where selected artists will be honored and awarded for their excellence in the area of art selected by our panel of jury.
